chotilsko025

2019

Each of us has a favourite place to which we keep returning for all sorts of reasons. We know it almost by heart. In summer, in winter, in the rain – in all kinds of situations. We try to capture that place in various ways – in the memory of our own brain, in the memory of our own camera… We take countless photographs and recordings, and yet we keep coming back there again and again.

Over almost two years I accumulated a number of photographs and sound recordings of “my” place, which served as the source material for the composition chotilsko025. The recorded sounds, together with the exif data of individual photographs transformed into musical structure, create bands that are shaped in real-time mixing into a variable musical form – each time a different “virtual sound walk” through the same environment.

RAZZLE DAZZLE CAMOUFLAGE – invitation to the preview on 1 August 2017, Pragovka Art District

A multimedia dance project about the trivialisation of values, the glorification of triviality, the rules of the pack, and tolerance of evil.

The piece deals with the identity of the individual, the mechanisms of how groups function, their interests, and the ethical dimension of these processes. The trivialisation of values, the glorification of triviality. It shows the value of publicly disseminated information and its possible distortions, up to deliberate lies. The creation of various identities, formed both consciously and unconsciously, is also one of its themes.

Camouflage / work in progress – preview on 1 August 2017 at 22:00, Kolbenova 923/34, Prague–Vysočany (Pragovka Art District).

threads – project with the Berg Orchestra

Threads is an audiovisual work built on interconnecting its individual components through technology. The main idea was to create an interface between sound, visuals and movement using Kinect sensors.

The dancer's individual gestures have, beyond their initial visual meaning, an effect on the sound and the projection as well. Through technology, the dancer thus directly controls the shape of the electroacoustic and visual layers. Alongside a fairly precisely notated score for orchestra, an imaginary score for movement emerges, made visible to the audience through projection.
